What is PowerTeaching?
PowerTeaching provides
teachers with a unique curricular
framework that is custom fit to their
math curriculum.
PowerTeaching is designed around
a research-proven Cycle of Effective
Instruction that engages students
and extends their mathematical
understanding.
The Cycle of Effective Instruction is composed of four key elements:
Active Instruction
Compelling concept presentation gets students
excited about the day’s lesson.
Teamwork
A structured team practice, using
cooperative-learning structures and team
cooperation goals, promotes opportunities to
work toward individual student mastery.
Assessment
Ongoing assessment throughout the
lesson cycle allows teachers to frequently
check for understanding and formally assess
students’ progress.
Celebration
Positive team and individual feedback increases
team interdependence and motivation.
Ongoing Support
During the school year, the PowerTeaching coach will help administrators and teachers review classroom data, observe and provide classroom support, and coach teachers as they refine their PowerTeaching implementation.
